Are you a Legal Permanent Resident with a “green card”? We hope you’ll take the next step to U.S. citizenship with our FREE citizenship classes.

Since June 2012, Unidos Bridging Community and Lutheran Community Services Northwest have collaborated to provide citizenship classes to students in Yamhill County. We offer two or three sessions per year. Each session is an eight-week program covering the 100 U.S. civics and government questions on the U.S.C.I.S. exam. The Safe Route Immigration program at Lutheran Community Services presents an overview of the process of submitting the appropriate paperwork to U.S.C.I.S. and what the naturalization interview will be like.

Classes are offered in English and Spanish. Students are encouraged to participate in the class in the language they will take the test.

Classes are offered in McMinnville at the Chemeketa Yamhill Valley Campus and in Newberg at the Portland Community College Newberg Center.

The teachers and assistants are community volunteers who enjoy helping immigrant students achieve their goals. New volunteers are always welcome, and speaking Spanish is not required!
